It is said that "Mount Hermon" was the world's first "Mount Zion" because it was the world's first holy mountain. Some believe, when God wants to appeal to all people on earth, He will direct His attention to Damascus and its holy mountain. According to Zechariah 9:1 "The burden of the word of the LORD in the land of Hadrach, and Damascus shall be the rest thereof: when the eyes of man, as of all the tribes of Israel, shall be toward the LORD." Even when God speaks of a harmony among all peoples on earth (that is prophesied to come), God refers to Psalm 133. Notice it: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments, AS THE DEW OF HERMON [Mount Hermon near Damascus] descends upon the mountains of Zion, for there the blessing, even life for evermore" Some believe that statement is refering to the first mount Sion, the city of Pandas at the bottom of Mount Hermon. It's also known as Caesarea Philippi (our modem Banias, or anciently, Panias). That city is one of the sources of the Jordan River water that comes out of a cave right at the base of Mount Hermon.

This is the reason why some of our Jewish brothers have moved to Damascus, because of what they call 'the Damascus phase of End-Time Prophecy' as is described in Zechariah 9 to 14. Also there are some christians who are looking at the area of Banias as the place that they will come to meet Jesus. They believe that the Hundred and Forty-four thousand shall be upon mount Sion, but not mount Zion, referring to the quote from Rev. 14:1: "And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads." However because of the misspelling of the word Zion in English, that was confused with Sion (which is spelled completely different in Hebrew), they are looking toward the Hermon area as the area that all men will come together as one. Nevertheless, scriptures have spoken about what shall happen to the area of Mount Hermon according to Zec:11:2: "Howl, fir tree; for the cedar is fallen; because the mighty are spoiled: howl, O ye oaks of Bashan; for the forest of the vintage is come down." And also written in Isa:60:13: "The glory of Lebanon shall come unto thee, the fir tree, the pine tree, and the box together, to beautify the place of my sanctuary; and I will make the place of my feet glorious." Therefore, after we had investigate these theories we came to the conclusion that the children of Isreal's place of gathering was Mount Zion (not Sion), because the glory of Lebanon and Bashan shall be given to the tabernacle of David and Mount Zion. And all people will come unto the Tabernacle of David upon Mount Zion as it is said in Isa:56:7: "Even them will I bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer: their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon mine altar; for mine house shall be called an house of prayer for all people." And above all, it is written at Psalms:87:2: "The LORD loveth the gates of Zion more than all the dwellings of Jacob." So we believe that this place spoken of is the tabernacle of David, the site presently called Tel Arad and the House of Yahweh, where those gates of Zion are still standing before the tabernacle of David. Feel free click the picture of each location above to investigate both theories for yourself.
